Hello Mama,
I nurtured heartbreak for years like a baby; some of it came from disappointment, rejection, prayers that seemed unanswered and relationships that ended differently than I had hoped. What hurt the most wasn’t always what happened. It was what I believed because of it.
I began to believe I wasn’t enough. Perhaps I was too broken to be fully loved, and God had blessings for other people, but not for me. Those thoughts lived quietly in my heart. And over time, they shaped how I see myself. I smiled when people expected me to attend church, prayed and do all the things a person of faith was supposed to do. Yet beneath the surface, I was carrying wounds I didn’t know how to heal.
Then one evening, while reading one of your reflections, I came across a line that stopped me. You wrote about God’s love not being earned, but received. I must have read that sentence ten times. Because if I was honest, I had spent years trying to earn what God had already given freely. I thought healing would come once I became stronger. Once I prayed better. Once I got my life together, but God’s love met me before any of those things happened. That realisation changed something in me.
For the first time, I stopped trying to fix myself before coming to God. Your devotionals & letters consistently pointed me back to God’s heart when I was tempted to focus on my pain, and little by little, God began to rebuild what hurt had torn down.
He corrected the lies I had believed about myself, reminded me that my worth wasn’t determined by who stayed or who left and showed me that His love was constant even when circumstances changed. Most importantly, He taught me that healing isn’t forgetting.
I joined hundreds of people to say we are grateful for creating a space where readers like me can encounter God again and again. Your words, prayers, and faithfulness have been part of my healing journey.
And for that, I will always be grateful.
With love,
A Reader Healed by Grace 🤍
