Sounds Of Laughter
Sometimes, joy is the proof of God’s goodness that words cannot explain.
Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them. Psalm 126:2
Message:
I will never forget the first time I laughed, really laughed, after a painful season. It startled me at first, like my heart was asking permission to feel joy again. But laughter can be holy, too.
The people in Psalm 126 had been through captivity, hardship, and loss. When restoration finally came, it was so good that it made them laugh. Sometimes, joy is the proof of God’s goodness that words cannot explain.
I think we sometimes feel guilty for laughing while we’re still healing, as if we need to stay sad until everything is “perfect.” But restoration invites us to rejoice even in the middle, to let laughter be a signpost that God is near and still doing good things.
Your laughter matters. It doesn’t erase the pain you’ve been through, but it is evidence that God is breathing life into you again. Don’t be afraid to smile, to sing, to laugh until your stomach hurts. It’s a holy thing. Laughter is a sign that God’s restoration is working in you.
Exercise:
Watch or listen to something that makes you genuinely laugh today, then thank God for the gift of laughter and what it says about your healing.
Prayer:
God, thank You for restoring my joy. Teach me to embrace moments of laughter as a reminder that You are still writing good things into my story. Amen.
