“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:29–30
Message:
There’s a heaviness that settles deep in our souls when we carry loads we were never meant to bear. Expectations. Guilt. Unfinished to-do lists… The silent pressure to hold it all together.
Jesus doesn’t invite us into a life without responsibility; He invites us into His way of carrying it. His yoke is not a crushing weight but a shared one, where His strength steadies our steps and His gentleness teaches us how to breathe again.
Some burdens are simply not from Him. They are borrowed from culture, world, fear, and people's opinions. Letting them go is not a sign of weakness; it's an act of holy alignment. It’s trading self-striving for God-led living.
Exercise:
Ask yourself, Is this load from God or from somewhere else? Lay down the ones He didn’t give you, and step into the lightness He offers.
Prayer:
Lord, teach me to carry only what You place in my hands. Help me release what is not mine to hold, and rest in the gentle rhythm of Your grace. Amen.
